Understanding Color Contrast

Color contrast is the difference in brightness between text and its background. When contrast is too low, text becomes hard to read, especially for people with low vision or color blindness. WCAG requires a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. These aren't arbitrary numbers. They're based on research into how human vision works under different conditions. You can check contrast ratios with free tools, and small adjustments to color shades can make a big difference.
