What Makes a Good Sitemap?

A sitemap is an XML file that lists all the important pages on your site. It helps search engines discover pages they might miss during normal crawling, especially on large sites or sites with pages that aren't well-linked internally. A good sitemap includes only canonical, indexable pages. It shouldn't include redirects, error pages, or pages blocked by robots.txt. Most CMS platforms generate sitemaps automatically, but they should be reviewed periodically to make sure they're accurate.
